Prior to graduation he was given an Honorable Mention from the SMPTE Film and Video Festival, and a Trophy Win from the 29th Movies On A Shoestring Film Festival for his short subject documentary, See What I'm Sayin': a portrait of Mr. Melrose Stowe.Eric went on to create the 6-minute film Station, using his skills in optical printing. The film is an animated collage capturing the ambiance of the Erie-Lackawana Railway of New Jersey. The film has toured with the Ann Arbor, Atlanta and Athens International Film Festivals; it won an Honorable Mention from the 31st Movies On A Shoestring Film Festival, and the Directors Choice Award in the Black Maria Film Festival. That same year the film was sold to Picture Start Chicago (now The Distribution Project).In 1990, Eric began directing and producing underground music videos in New York City before producing his first feature film.
