Born in Manhattan, New York, James Reade Venable is the only child of John Leith Venable, (Emmy, Peabody, and DuPont award winner for Sound Engineering), and Mother, Legal Nurse Practitioner Lois Lee Catherine Venable. He studied acting at HB Studio. He was also a working observer at The Actors Studio. James made his debut on stage with the NYU's Graduate Company Ideas N2 Action. He worked with American director Spike Lee in 25th Hour (2002), based on David Beinoff's novel; He also appeared on television that year on Days Of Our Lives (2002). Notable theatrical performances include Julius Caesar (2014), Much Ado About Nothing (2016) Hamlet (2018) and Henry V (2019)He took a hiatus from film in 2003 to focus on Poetry and returned to the cinema when he acted in Pose Down (2007), quickly followed by Pitch Me (2009) and Yes And No (2010). He was the lead in Pitch Me, his first leading role and it was selected for the Long Island Film Festival. In 2011, he appeared on stage in Joe Marshall's "The Gayest Christmas Pageant Ever!".He returned to the stage to work again in Civilization at the Bleeker Street Theater 45 Below. His next project was in the role of Frederich Von Weiszacker in David C. Cassidy's play Farm Hall (2014), directed by Gerald Vanheerden.In 2014, he starred in musician Mike Higbee's music video "Secret Life"(2014). That year he also was featured in A Dangerous Cure(2014). In 2019 he moved to Belgium to take on the second lead as Archbishop Canterbury and doubling as Duke Orleans for the Brussels Shakespeare Society. James continued to work in Television and Film in Europe including parts in the upcoming Belgian Series Een Goed Jaer (2020), Leo Carax's Anette (2020).
