The movie tells the story of a group of toymakers who seek to use Andre Toulon's formula, now in the hands of Robert Toulont, grandson of original puppet master Andre Toulon, to give life to an army of demonic dolls that they plan to unleash on Christmas Eve.

I do believe this movie was loosely based on William Shakespeare's The Tempest, but I could be mistaken.
