I'll try not to spoil it, I'm hoping that by recontextualizing this I'm making it slightly more enjoyable because if you misread the context it might seem trite. That's the point. If you want to watch this totally blind, you can skip this or you could read it after or not it's a pretty pretentious review.
I was going to criticize it because there was something that I thought at first was trite and stupid. Turns out it made sense in the end and wasn't just a movie character being stupid, its a great movie about egotistic people who think they've achieved egodeath, a man who just like the creep from Lolita think he's some romantic (there's a line in the movie where he specifically proves that), some explorer, who makes REAL art, unlike all the hacky kids who make smores and don't know what REAL food is like. Not like the people who eat instead of savor! Yeah the bullshit of this movie is the point and it knows that this doesn't make it any less bullshit, and so is this review. It's also subtle how they do this. The two speaking staff character's are woman on purpose and clearly are meant to symbolize what Anya Taylor Joy's character isn't, someone who thinks THIS is the man that can tell them what God's dick tastes like if they only stroke his, drink the kool-aid. A movie about masturbatory 'artistes' who aren't even good chefs.
