The Stepford Wives
In an attempt to improve their life and begin a new comfortable life, after leaving their jobs, an ordinary family moves into living in Stepford, where people seem to be something related to robots, other than human, the thing that challenges them and leads them to decide to leave that weird town, but they cannot.

As comedies go, it's actually fairly funny, albeit in a light, superficial way which either hides or exposes the fact that the plot is a thick tangle of mutual contradictions.
