[About Ianto Jones, San Diego ComicCon2008] Yeah. He is a sort of battler, a sort of Alfred to batman's cave I suppose...to the hub, to their base. He gets them everywhere on time. He is the one in the suit. He is very regulated. He's got a stopwatch to keep time. He's that precise. There's a bit of a romantic tryst between him and Captain Jack, who's the leader of the organization. And... ehm (John Barrowman steps over & kisses him on the cheek). There's quite an obvious romantic relationship between Ianto and Captain Jack. He is sort of the logical one, the sensible one that keeps everybody in order, with occasionally a stabbing, dry wit. Doing Torchwood, as the storyline developed I knew Ianto would end up having a proper snog with Captain Jack at some point. When it finally happened John Barrowman knew I was nervous. I wasn't nervous so much about kissing a bloke, it was much more about kissing the star of the show. On the first take, he told the director not to cut - he wanted to see how long it would take for me to crumble. So it happened, and he didn't let go, and the director didn't yell "cut"... after the longest 30 seconds of my career we both fell about laughing and the ice was broken. Intimate scenes with John (and there were more than a few) were a doddle after that. Hide

I travel around doing a lot of science fiction conventions, which is amazing. I've seen so much of the world because of the show, I regard myself as very lucky. For the theatre, you have to use a lot of stagecraft and technique to convince the audience but the camera picks everything up and you can't do that, you have to convince the person you're speaking to. I have all my 'good luck' cards that I get on the first night, I'm quite superstitious about that. A lot of actors will dump them at the first theatre but I keep them and take them on tour with me. No lucky charms, but my mum gave me a little 'good luck' teddy 20 years ago, which I keep in my digs, I don't take it to the theatre in case it gets lost. Hide
