This season includes 'World War Zimmerman' a parody of 'World War Z' and 'The Hobbit' which sees Wendy describe Kim Kardashian as a hobbit, leading her to speak out about the unrealistic portrayal of women.

Not every show has to be some sort of searing public commentary; dumb jokes are just fine, thanks. But even with that expectation and the extended time off, it feels like the rust shows.

While South Park normally excels at lampooning major hot-button issues like this, the season premiere just didn't quite follow through comedically, despite raising some good points.

This wasn't on par with something like "Broadway Bro Down" by any stretch of the imagination, but it's a solid outing all the same.

Season 17 isn't quite a perfect season (if there is such a thing), but the high quality moments and the near dearth of let-downs in these ten episodes prove that the creators of South Park are still in their prime (or, at least, on one of their upswings)
