Ah, look, it's okay. Not for now, but later. Perhaps for the flu season when you're lying on the couch, half-conscious, dosing up on Lemsip. Then it'll be suitably soothing and untaxing.

Trial and Error is blunter in its punchlines, but still frequently charming, mostly thanks to Lithgow's daffy appeal and D'Agosto's genial frustration as the straight man in a room full of kooks.
March 16, 2017
Lithgow's performance coupled with the serialized murder mystery element both serve to add a little flavor to an enjoyable but otherwise formulaic comedy.
March 20, 2017
It's great to see Lithgow, who won a Golden Globe earlier this year for playing Winston Churchill in Netflix's series The Crown, but there's not much challenge here for him and too few laughs.
March 14, 2017
It's Lithgow, as the hopelessly self-centered, sneakily endearing suspect, who steals every scene he's in.
March 14, 2017
A featherweight entertainment with a good cast, some charm, and not nearly enough laughs.
March 13, 2017
In 3rd Rock From the Sun, Lithgow was an alien trying to get by. In Trial & Error, he's a human trying to get by. His brilliance gives Trial & Error a good chance of succeeding.
March 14, 2017
If you like your comedy dark and twisted, Trial & Error could be just your cup of cyanide-laced coffee.
March 21, 2017
Clichéd courtroom comedy is funnier than it should be.
