"Welcome Back, Jim Gordon" is a welcome complement to last week's Gotham episode. It not only gives virtually all of the show's major players something to do it also acknowledges the presence and significance of rarely-seen characters.

It is an ending that actually makes for a powerful way to cap the episode, nearly negating my gripes, even though the basic premise of this episode slows things down considerably.

Like I said before, " Welcome Back, Jim Gordon" may run in circles most of the time, but even those old, tired circles still have a lot of entertainment value.

As sad as I was to see Jim return to work at the GCPD so quickly, I'm glad that it meant that we could get an episode like "Welcome Back, Jim Gordon," a bold and confident step forward as Gotham heads into the last third of its debut season.

"Welcome Back, Jim Gordon" is textbook filler with only small moments in between moments that forward the overarching story in any meaningful way.

if it's one thing Gotham's been lacking it's any sort of growth in its characters and this episode actually had that in spades.
